Wooden bath basin 16 l

Nowadays, this function is performed in most cases by a washcloth. But it is especially convenient to use a scraper in a steam room, when the whole body is steamed, and removing all excess and unnecessary things from the skin is not difficult. The ancient Romans in the baths used scrapers made from hippopotamus teeth, set in gold, decorated with precious stones: this is the attention paid to these objects. Both bone and wooden plates served as scrapers; for this purpose, fragments of animal jaws, their shoulder blades, and gill plates of large fish were used. What a variety of devices! Now, in our time, this is, of course, exotic, but be that as it may, the need for scrapers still remains. If you really want something exotic, you can ask those who sell fishing products wholesale to find some item similar to a scraper. Experienced steamers adapt the lids of plastic soap dishes for them. In the moments of rest between the end of the massage with a bath broom and the transition to another room, they, sitting on the bottom shelf, scrape off the dirt layer by layer from their bodies. If you feel the need to use a scraper, do not hesitate to imagine: maybe one of the usual objects will open in a new quality in the bathhouse.

For the steam room, prepare a special scraper or woolen mitten to remove sweat. Scrapers can be ceramic, made of precious wood, inlaid, or even silver. Scientists have proven that silver has a healing effect, as it has a detrimental effect on microbes and pathogenic bacteria. Scrapers, removing sweat, cleanse the pores of secretions, thereby allowing further sweating, and also reduce the likelihood of irritation of the skin by the salt-concentrated composition of the effusion.

It is more convenient to use a mitten because, while shedding sweat, you can simultaneously wipe and massage the skin, cleanse it of dead particles.

What are bath utensils made of?

Traditionally, the decoration of the bathhouse is made of wood; accessories for the sauna and accessories for the bath are also predominantly made of wood: cedar, linden, oak, larch. Thus, unity of style is achieved in all bath rooms.

However, it is not possible to use wood everywhere and you have to turn to other materials, in particular metal. Not only stove doors or coat hooks are made from aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized metal, but also entire designer collections of bath utensils.

Bath accessories

To take a steam bath, it seems that you need minimal bath equipment: a towel, a washcloth, a broom, soap, a basin and a ladle. But if you think about it, new points begin to appear.

But what about going to the bathhouse without a cool drink? But what about going to the steam room without a head cap? What about a mitten so as not to burn your hand? And what could be so aromatic to splash on the stones to create delicious steam? Have you forgotten any other accessories that we will later regret not taking with us?

We tried to make a list for you that will help you not forget anything and collect the right set of accessories, especially if you are not a frequent visitor to the bathhouse or have never been there and are just planning.

So, what should you remember to take with you when going to the bathhouse:

  • Broom

This is an indispensable attribute in the steam room. For information on how to prepare and steam a broom, read the article “Brooms for a bath.”

  • Cloth

Bring loose cotton clothes for changing, in which your body, hot after the steam room, will “breathe” and which will not cause irritation on clean, steamed skin.

  • Towel

You should have 2-3 towels. You use the big one for drying, you can wrap yourself in it when you are relaxing after the steam room. But in general, special bath capes and robes are now sold just for this purpose. You will use a small towel to make a turban on your head so that it absorbs moisture from washed hair, and to tidy up your hair during gatherings after the steam room. Another towel is needed to lay under you when you sit down or lie down on the shelves in the steam room.

  • Steam bath cap

Before going to the steam room, be sure to wear a thick wool hat; it will protect your head from overheating.

  • Slippers

To avoid catching any fungal disease, wear rubber or other waterproof slippers in the bathhouse. Try to ensure that the soles are non-slip, and in general you need to be careful - if you slip unsuccessfully, you are guaranteed to get a burn or bruise.

  • Steam room mat or towel

Rugs for sitting in a steam room can be made of felt, wool or flannel. You can also place a towel on the shelves. The main thing is not to let your skin come into contact with the wood, because it may contain pathogenic microbes. The mat must be washed and disinfected periodically.

  • Ladle

In the steam room of a Russian bath or Finnish sauna, a ladle is needed to splash water on the stones. It can be wooden, plastic or metal, but it must have a long handle so as not to get burned by the steam.

  • Mitten

To avoid burning your hands when using a metal ladle when you touch stones, as well as when using a broom, which also becomes hot after steaming, wear gloves. They can be wool or felt.

  • Gang

Wooden, steel, galvanized or copper basin. Used for soaking brooms and dousing with water.

  • Steamer

Used for steaming brooms.

  • Tub

A wooden tub with handles (“ears”) on the sides. Used for the same thing as a gang.

  • Psychrometer

A device for measuring temperature and humidity in a steam room.

  • Massagers

These sauna accessories should be wooden: toothed rollers, rubbing pads, etc. Made of wood, they will not heat up and will not burn you. Suitable for self-massage, increase blood circulation, help in the fight against cellulite, neuralgia, and muscle pain.

  • Soap

You can wash with soap only after visiting the steam room and never before, otherwise you will dry out your skin. Choose a mild soap that will not disturb the acid-base balance of your skin. Do not rub the washcloth with soap; it is better to make soap foam in a basin, dip a hard washcloth in it and rub it all over your body.

  • Washcloth

Choose a washcloth made from natural materials of suitable hardness. If you have delicate skin, don't take risks - use a sponge, bamboo or natural sea. As a washcloth, you can use a linen bag filled, for example, with soap nuts. Linen has anti-allergenic properties, cleanses pores, and speeds up metabolism. Sisal washcloths are suitable for those with rough skin and exfoliate very well. Loofahs made from ramie, a plant fiber obtained from Chinese nettle, have a more moderate exfoliating effect. Loofah washcloths are suitable for gentle cleansing of the skin. Do not forget also that washcloths made from natural fibers need to be changed every 4 months.

  • Shampoo

Use a shampoo that suits your hair type. It is good to use various hair masks and rinse your hair with a decoction of herbs.

  • Essential oils and herbs

A steam room filled with aromas calms and relaxes, and also helps treat various ailments. Water with essential oils and herbal infusions is used on a heater, and is also used to rinse hair and body.

  • Body creams and masks

It is good to apply various natural masks made from clay and cosmetic mud to steamed skin. And moisturizing and nourishing creams and lotions are also well absorbed and more active in the bath.

  • Beverages

The most popular drink after a hot steam room is kvass. They also drink tea, black or green, or from herbs. Curdled milk and kefir are also very good thirst quenchers.

A bathhouse is a place where you put your body in order, as well as relax and recover mentally and physically. What accessories, ointments and infusions you need - only you know. We have listed the standard set, you can make this list shorter or longer, at your discretion.

Classification of bath accessories

Conventionally, accessories for baths and saunas can be divided into the following categories:

  • Measuring instruments;
  • Bath clothes;
  • Cooper's products and brooms;
  • Small items for washing;
  • Related leisure items.

Measuring instruments

A bathhouse is not only a pleasant and sometimes extreme holiday with a group of friends, but also a place where illnesses can be left behind and health restored. Bath and sauna accessories such as a thermometer, hygrometer and watch are primarily necessary for people suffering from cardiovascular diseases.

All of the above devices are necessary to control the temperature and humidity in the steam room, as well as to record the time spent in it.

Advice! When purchasing measuring instruments, you need to pay special attention to their material, because they will have to work in almost extreme conditions. Bath experts recommend purchasing products made of wood or heat-resistant plastic. It is advisable, but not necessary, to avoid purchasing a mercury thermometer.

Bath clothes

It would seem like a paradox: in order to wash yourself properly you need clothes! Moreover, it should be comfortable and practical.

So, you will need:

  • Hat - felt, wool or flannel. The main purpose of this headgear is to protect the scalp and hair from overheating;

Note! It is strictly forbidden to wet hats before entering the steam room, as the protective properties of the headwear are reduced and you risk getting heatstroke!

  • Towels or sheets - soft linen or cotton. The task of this “clothing” is to absorb sweat in a timely manner and prevent hypothermia of the body wrapped in it when leaving the steam room;
  • Shoes – rubber or plastic. Firstly, shoes are worn to prevent fungal diseases of the feet and nails, and secondly, corrugated soles do not slip on wet tiles in the washroom.

Cooperage and brooms

Russian bathhouse and broom – these two concepts have a strong associative connection. Assembling the “correct” broom with your own hands is a whole science!

And the broom, of course, comes with a steamer - a wooden container with a lid; and also buckets, buckets, ladles and scoops have long and firmly settled in the bathhouse or sauna.

Of course, you can get by with plastic or metal containers, but wooden ones fit much more harmoniously into the sauna interior, create and emphasize the special, original atmosphere of the room, and have a beneficial effect on the health and well-being of fans of good steam.

Other small items for washing

A slender row of glass vials with essential oils. For some, this is a trifle, a trifle, while others visit the bathhouse just for them. It is not for nothing that aromatherapy is a separate branch of alternative medicine, when it treats not only the body, but also the soul.

And how many washcloths, brushes, body scrapers! Shampoos, gels, masks, including homemade ones... If men come to the bathhouse to wash and socialize, then women, in addition, are actively involved in their appearance.

Steam has a beneficial effect on the skin, cleanses pores, and helps get rid of excess weight.

Other comfort items

People come to a bathhouse or sauna not only to wash themselves, but also to socialize. That is why they equip it with a special relaxation room, where, in between visits to the steam room, guests have a pleasant conversation over a steamed mug of cold beer or a cup of aromatic herbal tea.

Table and benches - a place for friendly gatherings
Table and benches - a place for friendly gatherings

If you have a small bathhouse on your property, where your family or a group of friends periodically gathers, then a wooden table, several comfortable benches and a set of dishes will be enough.

It’s another matter if you are the owner of a bathhouse complex - the price of arranging a relaxation room increases significantly! All the same table and benches, as well as a TV, refrigerator, bar and other attributes of a comfortable stay.

Don’t forget about the sense of beauty: funny panels and wooden signs look great on the walls.

Bath accessories can also include headrests, rugs, evaporators, firewood racks, screens for stoves, evaporators, etc. Do you need them - decide for yourself!
