So, how to choose the main bath attribute, which determines not only convenience, but also aesthetics, which is very important for women? What am I talking about? About the towel, of course! Let's figure it out now.

From this article you will learn:

Choosing a bath towel

So, when choosing soft companions for bath procedures, you need to pay attention to the following points:

Material

Terry opens the hit parade. It perfectly absorbs moisture, retains heat, allows air to pass through, has a long service life, and is easy to maintain. In addition, a terry product can be used to make a skirt, a sundress, and a men's kilt towel.

In second place is linen fabric. It perfectly absorbs moisture, allows air to pass through, is wear-resistant, has bactericidal properties, dries quickly, is pleasant to the touch, and does not irritate the skin.

The third place is occupied by bamboo material. It perfectly absorbs moisture, allows air to pass through and is highly durable. In addition, this fabric is known for its anti-inflammatory, antiviral, bactericidal and protective effect, which is especially important since it is quite easy to introduce some kind of infection into steamed skin. Bamboo fabric kills up to 70% of bacteria. It is absolutely safe and hypoallergenic. It is also very gentle, soft and does not stick to the body.

Jacquard and velor fabrics are also popular, but bathhouse fans do not recommend purchasing towels made from these materials, since they do not absorb moisture well, are difficult to care for, and have a fairly high price.

Thus, dear ladies, preference should be given to a terry, linen or bamboo towel.

Aesthetics

Yes, without a doubt, a towel should be attractive. Women love beautiful things. However, representatives of the fair sex often make a common mistake: they looked and bought. But you need to take the product in your hands, turn it, twist it, touch it and smell it. This looks, of course, comical, but health is still more important.

Main types of clothes for a bath

Any items intended for use in a steam room must be made exclusively from natural materials. This rule applies not only to clothing for women and men, but also applies to shoes and hats. Bath ensemble items made from linen, bamboo, cotton, felt and felt are often in demand. Such products are not afraid of high temperatures, allowing the skin to breathe without having the slightest harmful effect on the body.

These materials are the basis of the most popular names for successful spa treatments with healing steam and include the following varieties:

  • hats;
  • kimono;
  • pareo;
  • robes;
  • capes;
  • shorts;
  • kilt

When considering the question of what to wear to the bathhouse, we must not forget about special shoes made from natural materials. It can be disposable, intended for long-term use, but not have a slippery sole. In this regard, it is better to immediately forget about rubber specimens.

Handmade bath sundress is the squeak of fashion!

We will learn how to sew an incredibly comfortable and indescribably beautiful sundress! How to sew such a wonderful product? Very simple! For those whose hands grow out of place, we stock up on the following:

  • a towel (size and color is a personal matter for each beauty);
  • braid;
  • material for decoration;
  • rubber band;
  • Velcro;
  • needle and thread.

We take a towel and put it on the table. Sew an elastic band to the wide edge. We cut out strips of fabric and sew around the edges of the product (you can also make a pocket). We take Velcro, apply it to the inner front shelves of the sundress and secure it. Using braid or tape, we form the straps (you can, of course, do without them). Do you have any fabric left for decoration? We form a bow or flower from it and attach it to the bath sundress. Voila! The miracle dress is ready!

The simplest manipulations will allow you to create a real masterpiece. The right bath towel will give you a mind-blowing experience. At least the female half will definitely appreciate it!

That's all. I hope it was informative. Anyone who wants to keep abreast of all the events of the blog and not miss new articles, I advise you to subscribe to updates. Good luck to everyone and bye bye!

A kilt for a bath takes a worthy place in the list of important bath accessories. It is multifunctional and practical, used as a loincloth or liner for shelves in a steam room.

A kilt is an excellent alternative to a traditional bath towel; it adheres well to the body without causing any inconvenience in use. Such an accessory can be purchased ready-made or sewn with your own hands.

Benefits of Wearing a Kilt

A kilt for saunas and baths is a piece of natural fabric that is wrapped around the body and securely fastened with fasteners. It performs an aesthetic and hygienic function, is a bath garment and protects intimate areas on the male and female body during procedures.

If necessary, secure fasteners can transform a traditional bath towel into a functional kilt. This is quite convenient and practical, especially when there is no time to buy a finished product, and ordinary bath towels are always at hand.

Types of bath kilts

There are male and female versions of steam room kilts. The differences between them are only in the length and width of the products.

  • The accessory for men has a shortened length, measuring the distance from the waist to the knees. Embroidery is used as decoration.
  • To sew a women's kilt or pareo, the body length from chest to knees is taken into account. This product is made from a single piece of fabric and is fixed over the chest using tape, fasteners or Velcro. Can be decorated with bows and embroidery.

Many manufacturers offer children's kilts in their line, taking into account the age and gender characteristics of the child.

In addition, such a bath accessory can be classified according to the type of fabric that is used to sew it:

  • Mahra. High-quality, durable and practical material with a high hygroscopicity rate. It cools the body well in summer and warms in winter, has an attractive appearance and a wide palette of colors. A terry kilt has several significant disadvantages: long drying time, heavy weight and high cost.
  • Cotton. Material with a breathable structure and high hygienic characteristics. It is soft, gentle and pleasant to the touch. Significant disadvantages of a kilt made of cotton fabric are possible shrinkage during washing and long drying time.
  • Wafer material. It has high hypoallergenic, hygroscopic and strength characteristics. Convenient washing, quick drying and practicality make it indispensable when sewing bath accessories. For products, material with a density of up to 250 g/sq.cm is used. The only drawback of a waffle fabric kilt is excessive moisture absorption.
  • Bamboo fiber. Material with high performance characteristics: practicality, durability, good air exchange, ease of maintenance. A kilt made of bamboo fabric does not shrink, does not wrinkle and does not absorb foreign odors.
  • Natural linen. The material has high thermal conductivity and strength properties. At the same time, it is easy to wash, quick to dry and resistant to stretching. The disadvantages of a linen kilt include high maintenance requirements and easy creasing.

Attention! Dyed and synthetic materials are not used for sewing bath kilts.

A universal dress for a bath and after a shower
In order not to wrap yourself in a towel after a shower or while in a bath, you can very quickly and easily sew a beautiful and comfortable thing.

All you need is this:

- a piece of cotton waffle fabric approximately 80 cm long (it all depends on your height and desired length) and approximately 125-140 cm wide;

- finishing satin ribbon 2 cm wide (to determine its length, you need to add 2 lengths and 2 widths of this piece);

- elastic band 2-3 cm wide (its length is equal to the width of your back, maybe a little less);

- white adhesive tape, also 2-3 cm wide (its length is equal to the width from one armpit to the other - from the chest side).

Let's get started

To begin, straighten the fabric on all sides. Sew along the edge with finishing tape (baste first, then stitch with a sewing machine). Then separate the Velcro tape into two halves and, departing from the top edge of the fabric by about 6 cm, sew Velcro on one and the other side as shown in photo 1

.

In the center between the Velcro you will have an empty space where you should sew the elastic, while pulling it tight, since the distance from one edge of the Velcro to the other should be greater than the length of the elastic. See photos 2a and 2b

Where the elastic is sewn is the wrong side. The Velcro should be positioned like this: one on the wrong side, the other on the front side, but on different edges of the fabric, so that when wrapping it around itself, in front, one half of the fabric with Velcro overlaps the other half, thus closing the Velcro strips ( photo 3

Well, now you can go to the bathhouse!

Bathrobe - sundress made from a towel

In this mini-tutorial, strap-like braid is sewn onto a towel, and the rectangular piece of terry cloth suddenly transforms into an elegant, feminine robe.

Will need

  1. Terry fabric of the desired size, with processed edges (so as not to fray); or a ready-made large terry bath towel.
  2. Fabric for finishing - it can be chintz, satin or other natural material, matching the color of the towel.
  3. Ribbon, also in the chosen color scheme.
  4. Elastic band (it should be wide).
  5. Velcro tape (Velcro tape).

1) Sew a wide elastic band to the wide edge of the fabric or towel. 2) Do not exert too much tension - you need to focus on your body size. 3) Cover the sides of the towel with fabric 4) Measure and sew the location of the Velcro. 5) Now it’s time to sew on the ribbons. 6) At the final stage of sewing, you can decorate it as you wish - for example, sew on a pocket! And a rosette with a button.

For a pareo you will need: terry, bamboo or waffle fabric measuring 0.8 m in length and 1.1 - 1.5 m in width; elastic band 30 - 45 cm long and 3 - 4 cm wide; contact tape (Velcro) 15 cm long for each side.

1. Determine your optimal sizes. Length is usually measured from above the chest to the knee. Width – one and a half chest width (measured above the chest), measure very tightly. Sizes can be made larger or smaller.

2. Cut out the canvas. We round the bottom of the inside of the pareo smell. Determine the size for the elastic on the fabric. When placed along the back, this is half the circumference above the chest. You can do it along the back from armpit to armpit, it will hold very securely. The elastic is usually taken as 70% of the length for sewing. It is recommended to mark control points on the fabric and similarly on the elastic, join them with needles, and baste.

3. Sew the elastic on the machine using an overlock (zigzag) stitch. Make sure it is completely attached to the fabric. When sewing, use your hands to tighten the front and back of the presser feet. We continue processing all sides, finishing at the beginning of the line.

4. Fold the edges of the fabric to the width of the elastic. The terry cloth curls a little when working. To avoid twisting and deformation of terry fabric, during sewing, place a strip of water-soluble interlining inside the fold, cut along the width of the hem. This move makes the work much easier. Another option is processing with bias tape or cotton braid. This may be true if the product is sewn using a regular sewing machine.

5. We make a finishing stitch on three sides, except for the side with a rounded edge. If the bend is 3 cm, then we make the finishing stitch 2.5 cm from the edge. For beauty, you can lay several lines. We start sewing from the top of the pareo towards the right angle. At the corners we turn the stitches 90 degrees, continuing sewing. You can bend the hem at a corner, check the thickness of the fabric. We finish the finishing stitch before rounding the inner corner. Edges processed using an overlocker look neat and do not require additional processing of internal odors. For processing, you can use bias tape.

6. Sew contact tape (Velcro) along the top part. We attach the clinging part to the edge, stepping back a little, and the soft part - in the armpit area. We repeat the operation with the inner edge; instead of Velcro, you can sew a button or button there. Please note that it is better not to use a metal button in such a product.

Additionally, you can: sew straps - one over the head or two over the shoulders; add a pocket to the product; decorate with applique or embroidery.

Peculiarities

For a long time, lovers of steaming did without a pareo. So the natural question is: is it really necessary, because you can wrap a sheet or bath towel around your body. What are the specifics of this item?

A bath pareo, unlike a towel, is made with an elastic band that ensures a tight fit of the fabric to the body. And the presence of a Velcro fastener gives you confidence that the pareo is securely fastened and will not fall as a result of awkward movement.

If you have such a pareo, then you don’t have to think about how best to tie the towel so that it doesn’t accidentally slip off, and there’s no need to adjust it from time to time. As a bath garment, a Velcro pareo is much more comfortable than a towel wrapped around the body. In addition, the pareo can be used, if desired, as a towel or as a blanket for wooden surfaces, that is, this thing is multifunctional. Some manufacturers of bath accessories call this item a towel skirt.

Pareos for baths and saunas are often sold complete with a “turban” and a towel. These items are made from the same fabric and match in color, pattern and design, which allows you to create an image in the same style and in the same mood.

A men's “pareo” is most often called a bath kilt.

General requirements for clothing for going to the steam room

Previously, going to a traditional sauna implied the complete absence of any things on a person in order to achieve the maximum effect of cleansing the surface of the body. Today, the so-called dress code is necessarily practiced in the bathhouse, in which each visitor must certainly be “covered” with clothes specially suitable for this.

When thinking about what clothes to wear in the bathhouse, you should remember that items of clothing must meet the requirements, which include the following:

  • provide an optimal feeling of comfort;
  • comply with considerations of practicality;
  • made only from natural materials.

Considering that the quality of clothing largely determines the feeling of a person in a sauna, you should be sure to select wardrobe items only from the assortment of trusted manufacturers with a good reputation.
